Unemployment
Unemployment can be measured by the proportion of unemployed people and the number of jobseekers per job vacancy. In the long term, unemployment in the Olomouc Region had been above the average. After a five-year period when it approached the national average, in 2024, unemployment in the region rose again. Both the Olomouc District and the City of Olomouc were, in the past, among areas with lower unemployment within the region, but after 2009, unemployment in the city and the district alike has risen above the national average. Unemployment in the district and the city dropped below the national average in recent years, but in 2024, its rate again exceeded the national average.

Average wages are lower by far in the Olomouc Region compared to the national level. As for the Olomouc District, though well above the regional average, wages still remain below the national average.
